weds-day: the tasting

1421521704817 Hey friends! Maybe it's because I haven't eaten breakfast yet, but I am so so excited for this week's Weds-day topic. This Friday, Raven and I are headed up to Lakeville, CT to have our wedding tasting!

Our venue, The Interlaken Inn, is supposed to have incredible food. Judging by the extensive menu, we're in for a treat. It was really hard for us to narrow down our choices, but we'll be tasting salmon and filet, since those are typically crowd pleasers. I've been a vegetarian for almost 10 years, so a solid meatless option is of utmost importance to me. I despise "afterthought" vegetarian options and was plumb pleased to see on the menu butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and sage. We'll be tasting that as well, and I would bet my bottom dollar that those will end up being our final choices.

When we first sat down and discussed the flow of the evening, I was adamant that there be no order taking, and that guests fill out entree choices on their reply card. We're forgoing a salad (who cares about salad at a wedding!?) and are having a fixed appetizer. Ideally, guests will come in, sit down to their apps, and then 30-40 minutes later, their entrees hit the table, the idea being that the less dawdling, the more dancing.

So here's my query - I've heard that this can cause nightmares. Guests forget what they ordered, now they don't want salmon, they want filet, and on and on. Anyone have any advice or thoughts either way? Like I said I'm pretty determined, but I also used to feel that way about a first look...

See you folks tomorrow!

xoxo,
