help us celebrate!

Today is special for two reasons: 1) This is our 100th post right he-yah! and 2) We are 25 days into our 50 Day Challenge, #scratchfor50! IMG_0976

What does that mean for us? Gratitude.

Thank you for reading, for commenting, for encouraging, for sharing, for making us a part of your daily life, for believing in us, for following us, for telling your friends and family about us, for making us feel so supported and so loved.

What does that mean for you? More chances to win prizes!

#scratchfor50 is not over yet. All the details of the contest are right here. But just because you may not have started yet, doesn't mean you shouldn't! You have 25 days to make a creative difference in your life, to take in all the creative aspects of your day and honor them, to carve out places where you could exercise that creativity a little bit more. A late start is better than not starting at all, and we'd love to see the world through your eyes.

Wondering who has jumped on board and what they've made so far? Hop on over to InstaGram, Twitter, and FB and search the hashtag #scratchfor50. Prepare to be instantly inspired.

#scratchfor50: words of wisdom from becca

In our From Scratch for 50 Days: A Creativity Challenge, we are challenging you to do something creative and share it with us every day for 50 days. To get you all sorts of pumped up and inspired, we’re bringing you fellow creators’ words of wisdom. Read, enjoy, and get creating, Wellers. Our next words of wisdom come from Becca: actress, singer, founder and blogger of the insanely insightful Becca on Broadway, and all around funny woman. This girl GETS comedy. Oh, and she's dipping her toes into producing, too. Think she knows something about creativity? We sure as heck do. And you'll be able to see her on stage in The Understudy this May-June at The Secret Theatre in NYC. NBD.

What is creativity?

Creativity is building something new. Anything new. I tend to relate to it in terms of the arts because that's the world I'm in, but it's certainly not limited to that. Creativity is making something out of nothing, making something out of something, in any capacity. I also link it with originality; there is a quality of uniqueness that I like to think comes hand in hand with being creative.

When do you feel the most creative?

When I'm surrounded by my creative peers. It gets the juices flowing.

Do you consider creativity a necessity or a bonus?

A bonus.

#scratchfor50: words of wisdom from tom

In our From Scratch for 50 Days: A Creativity Challenge, we are challenging you to do something creative and share it with us every day for 50 days. To get you all sorts of pumped up and inspired, we're bringing you fellow creators' words of wisdom. Read, enjoy, and get creating, Wellers. Our next words of wisdom come from Tom.  Tom is a creative force: he's an incredibly talented writer, director, and filmmaker…and that's just me glossing over what he does.  In the past year, Tom has written and directed three feature films (and produced a fourth), and has, creatively, been very busy.  All the while he makes himself available to friends and loved ones as if he had all the time in the world.  I feel very lucky to call Tom my friend, and am thrilled that he is participating in our quest for creativity!

What is creativity?

Creativity is that uniquely human trait of trying to build a space for our ideas and instincts to exist. We might make a mess of expressing ourselves, or we might just paint the Mona Lisa. EIther way, it feels good to get it out.

When do you feel the most creative?

I'm creating something pretty much on a daily basis. Not all of it is fit for consumption, but I'm not very good if I'm stagnant.

Do you consider creativity a necessity or a bonus?

It's a necessity for me personally. But on a wider plain, I think most people need to find some sort of expression, so I would assume I'm not out of the ordinary. It's just whether they choose to do it or not, and being consistently creative is much, much easier than having to get the momentum going from a near-zero start. Fear of failure can be scary of course, but fear of never shining a light on an idea that is dying to be shared, that's much more intense.

#scratchfor50: words of wisdom from ashley

In our From Scratch for 50 Days: A Creativity Challenge, we are challenging you to do something creative and share it with us every day for 50 days. To get you all sorts of pumped up and inspired, we're bringing you fellow creators' words of wisdom. Read, enjoy, and get creating, Wellers. Our first words of wisdom come from Ashley: actor, writer, director, singer, dancer, all-around fearlessly creative woman of the world:

What is creativity?

Creativity is a unique driving energy. It is a journey for the artistic soul.

When do you feel the most creative?

I feel most creative when a choice, action, or inner feeling comes alive and surprises me.

Is creativity a necessity or a bonus?

Creativity is to be nurtured and appreciated, the more it is appreciated the more it becomes a necessity for the mind rather than added bonus.
