Happy Friday, lovely people! The weather has finally cooled down around these parts, and I've been working through the morning with nothing but the breeze! What are you up to this weekend? If you've been a longtime LRW reader, you know I've been coveting a pink coat for quite some time. One that I had my eye on over a year ago was $700 smackers - not in the ol' cards for me. ASOS came through again and when I was searching for some transitional coats for this year, I found the above coat for a steal. Uber feminine fit and flair silhouette, luxurious faux fur, and the color - I was so pleased with my purchase.

Though this coat is perfect for fancy nights out over a dress, I loved pairing it with casual ripped denim, minimal hair and accessories, and black chunky boots (if you buy any bootie from now to eternity, PLEASE let it be this pair).

I bought these jeans years ago at Levi's and wore them to death as I navigated the bizarre weight changes of my mid twenties. Last year, rather than throw them out, I cut off the bottoms and made slits at the knees - something that is EVERYWHERE in NYC right now. I highly recommend this little trick for any out of date denim in your closet.

one last time

Friends! I'm sorry yesterday was kind of a dud of a post. My mind is all over the place lately: the wedding, the move, Thursday's workshop, SPRING! I'm in a bit of a funk. Luckily, I have today's outfit in my back pocket for one last ode to winter...

This outfit is the perfect example of just figuring it out. Even though Ashley and I had put together what would be a beautiful shoot, when the week of the shoot rolled around and it was a high of 17 degrees, we had to rearrange the outfits. I quickly ordered the coat on super sale (NOW is the best time to buy for next winter!), and we scrambled to find the perfect dress and shoes.

During the shoot, though, we decided we loved the simple dress and snow boots, and left them on. I'm so happy with the way it turned out!

style dictionary: jacquard

Happy (holiday) Monday, friends! There's nothing better than a long weekend, am I right? We spent ours huddled up on the couch with large glasses of wine; the cold here is intense. It's a sweltering 5 degrees right now! Whether or not you're working, there's always room to expand your knowledge of style and clothing, which, I hope, is why you stopped by today! Last week's style dictionary post was the most popular post of the week, which tickles me, so we're going to continue our education with today's word: JACQUARD.

Now, my good friend Merriam Webster defines jacquard as "a fabric of intricate variegated weave or pattern," but that's a little general for me.

When I think of jacquard, I think of a boxy, honeycomb type fabric. Raised and textured, like this:

He loves to nap on the heater, go figure. Anyway, ASOS consistently does jacquard really well, at an affordable price with great quality. Which, if you're wanting to experiment with this fun pattern, is a great way to go:

My favorite way to wear jacquard is in a top or jacket, but here I love the luxe jammies (great for the wedding night, maybe??), as well as a crop top set worthy of Taylor Swift.

You won't hear a word from me (yet) about the snow. My ancestors thrived in the clouds and rain and mild temps; I'm all about this cold.

I'm also, if you haven't noticed yet, all about minimal accessories. Because I want getting dressed to be easy, and I want the accessories I put on my body to make me happy.

Sometimes a big old poncho doubles as a warmth-giver and an accessory - super easy. And every now and again, it's nice to choose one little piece that makes your entire outfit come together.
