weirdo

Friends! Thanks for all of your kind words on yesterday's post - I'm so glad you were into it! In all seriousness, I'd love to hear some of your style stories; if you'd like to be featured on LRW (anonymously or not), drop me a line at allie AT littleredswell dot com! I'll be gathering ideas for next Monday's post until this Friday. As is evidenced from yesterday, I've been thinking a lot about my blog and this business (I'm approaching my one year mark!), and debating how I fit in and how I don't.

I can try and be like every other blogger out there, with a perfectly polished brand and hundreds of thousands of followers, but at the end of the day, I gotta do me. And sometimes being me means laying down on a fallen tree and letting my friend photograph me for 30 minutes.

Because nothing feels better to me than collaboration and creating with like minded people. Nothing lights a fire under my ass more than making something out of nothing.

And truly, nothing is better than happy readers or happy clients.

So here's to all of you weirdos and "creative types," artists and wannabe artists and people who just don't necessarily fit in all the time. Thanks for reading!

If you've been a longtime LRW reader, you know I've been coveting a pink coat for quite some time. One that I had my eye on over a year ago was $700 smackers - not in the ol' cards for me. ASOS came through again and when I was searching for some transitional coats for this year, I found the above coat for a steal. Uber feminine fit and flair silhouette, luxurious faux fur, and the color - I was so pleased with my purchase.

Though this coat is perfect for fancy nights out over a dress, I loved pairing it with casual ripped denim, minimal hair and accessories, and black chunky boots (if you buy any bootie from now to eternity, PLEASE let it be this pair).

I bought these jeans years ago at Levi's and wore them to death as I navigated the bizarre weight changes of my mid twenties. Last year, rather than throw them out, I cut off the bottoms and made slits at the knees - something that is EVERYWHERE in NYC right now. I highly recommend this little trick for any out of date denim in your closet.

Friends, I am off! See you tomorrow...

one last time

Friends! I'm sorry yesterday was kind of a dud of a post. My mind is all over the place lately: the wedding, the move, Thursday's workshop, SPRING! I'm in a bit of a funk. Luckily, I have today's outfit in my back pocket for one last ode to winter... View More: http://ashley-caroline.pass.us/allieravenengagement

This outfit is the perfect example of just figuring it out. Even though Ashley and I had put together what would be a beautiful shoot, when the week of the shoot rolled around and it was a high of 17 degrees, we had to rearrange the outfits. I quickly ordered the coat on super sale (NOW is the best time to buy for next winter!), and we scrambled to find the perfect dress and shoes.

During the shoot, though, we decided we loved the simple dress and snow boots, and left them on. I'm so happy with the way it turned out!

hit the road

JuliaElizabethPhotography-5

JuliaElizabethPhotography-7Confession: I'm a homebody. Okay, that's a generous term. Reclusive would be more appropriate. I guilt trip my friends saying we never hang out, and then infamously flake when I get invited along. It's not that I don't want to hang out, because I do, I'm obsessed with my friends. It's just that the motivation to get moving can be hard for me, loving home as I do. As you can imagine, workouts are hard when you're like this. It's been years since I've had a consistent routine, Bari being closest to it. With our wedding coming up (I feel like I start every sentence that way lately!), I'm determined to change my bad habits. Group classes are a lovely motivation, and getting out into the city early in the morning leaves potential for an entire day full of out and about activities. Of course getting dressed never hurt...

JuliaElizabethPhotography-9Whew! I feel like I got a little personal just then. Tell me, are you a homebody as well? Are you a "doer" (if so, I'm jealous!)? Tell all!

Oh, and if you haven't, please subscribe to LRW when prompted, and email me if you have any issues!
