weekend recap: the poconos

Oof, what a WEEKEND, folks. I just got back into town last night after spending the last 3 days in the Poconos with three of my best friends. A little recap, shall we? Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

That's beautiful Lake Naomi! Even though the forecast was horrendous, we lucked out and had exceptional (albeit HOT) weather all weekend.

Isn't it dreamy? We spent much of the day on Saturday and Monday paddling around the Lake in the canoe. We left our phones on the shore and it was so nice to have true face to face conversations.

On Sunday, we drove 3 hours to Naples, NY and saw our friend Liz in Bristol Valley Theater's production of Rent. She was phenomenal, and we were able to sneak in a little photoshoot after the show.

Friends, I wore these clogs (these are cute, too) all weekend (save for yesterday when I had the worst hangover of my life and spent the day whining and wandering around the yard / house barefoot), and they are the perfect example of a simple way to elevate an otherwise "simple" outfit. They're nude, so they lengthen the leg, and a add a little bit of height, which feels and looks fancy. But they're clogs, so they're incredibly comfortable. It felt great to wear them all weekend.

And that, my friends, is all I've got for you today.

weekend recap

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset Friends, good morning! Yesterday was an unintentional absence - we had no internet - so I apologize for leaving you guys hanging. Honestly, though, it was nice to be forced to recharge after the weekend, which was filled to the brim with wedding related errands.

Bright and early Friday morning, Raven, Charlie and I headed up to Madison, CT, which is the home base of Jennie Fresa and her team. It was a rainy morning and I happily nursed some green tea while Tricia and I got to work on my face. In case you need a refresher, here's what I've been thinking for makeup, and here's the final result:

I told Tricia I wanted super rosy cheeks, a wee cat eye, razor sharp brows and no pores (ha!). I was so pleased with the result and cannot recommend Tricia from Jennie Fresa enough!

The rest of the weekend was filled with meal after meal (after meal) - our wedding tasting, trying out different spots for the rehearsal dinner, our cake tasting - definitely came home with my pants fitting a bit more snug than usual. But! The menu is done, the rehearsal dinner plans are underway, we have a cake, and we're getting married! Whew!

All in all the weekend was a fantastic retreat in CT, one of our favorite spots on earth...

Shit is getting real my friends!!

weekend recap

Whew! What a weekend! I just got back late last night and I am filled to the brim with lovin'. Friday night Charlie and I packed up my car and headed to CT for the night.

Isn't my parents' backyard dreamy? Charlie and I spent a couple hours outside on Friday afternoon; me doing a little work / a little nothing, him galavanting through the woods and chasing birds.

After a relaxing afternoon, I headed to my sister and brother in law's house to hang with my nephews and have pizza and beer. This is Alex, the most Irish baby on the planet. I got to put Alex's older brother, Owen, to sleep that night, and as we sat in the rocker, I felt my heart almost bursting. I swear, being an Aunt is the best feeling in the world.

Saturday morning started bright and early. I decided to take a selfie in this gas station bathroom in New York. Very typical behavior. My good friends and neighbors, Stephanie and Patrick, decided to have their wedding a Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. The drive was spectacular, but the venue...

The venue is so exceptional. Nestled in Mohonk Preserve, the house is really a resort - all meals are included as well as most activities; hiking, canoeing, yoga, horseback riding, the list goes on. It's the perfect backdrop for a wedding, and I had a total blast assisting my friends in their special day. Their family and friends were the most fun loving group of people, it didn't feel like work to me at all. More snaps of the day are on my Instagram account :).

Yesterday, I headed home early (I stayed at the cutest hostel in New Paltz, I recommend it for an inexpensive, comfy stay!) to get back to Charlie and spend the day with my nephews. After dinner we rushed home to be with Raven, who we missed desperately. Needless to say, the weekend was a total success, as is evidenced by my enormous cup of coffee this morning. Bring on the week!
