weds-day: signing off

Hi friends! Oh do I wish I had it in me to talk about ANYTHING else except my wedding this weekend. Alas, I do not. I'm heading up to CT today following a wedding manicure with my sister. Any color recs? I'm thinking anything but nude, since I feel like that's the obvious bridal choice (and you all know I don't like to do anything that's obvious). I don't think I'll be posting for the rest of the week, however, please follow along on Instagram to see snaps of it all!

Monday we fly out for our Honeymoon in Italy and Switzerland. If the itinerary is any clue, we are going to have the time of our lives. I may try and get on the blog to share updates and pictures...but if I don't, I will see you back here for a wedding-free (mostly, I think we'll keep weds-day around for a while) blog in late November!

Thanks for all the love!

wedding wednesday, part 1

Morning, friends! There's only one more sleep till Christmas! I am so excited to celebrate - Raven and Charlie get in in a few hours and there's going to be lots of holiday cheer happening in the next few days. I had a great night's sleep and feel so much better today, so I thought I would kick off a new series - Wedding Wednesday! I am totally open to names, here, for this series, but for posterity, let's call it what it is for now. Even though Raven and I have only been engaged for a week, we've been brainstorming ideas for our wedding since we designed my ring. I'm excited to say we have a date, a venue and more importantly (to me), a wedding planner! I've been a fan of Melissa McNeeley's work for years, and I was thrilled when she said she'd work with us for our big day. Two seconds into my first phone call with her, she completely understood our vision. Raven and I love the outdoors and the fall and winter seasons, so a cozy November wedding by a lake in Connecticut is perfect for us. I've put together a moodboard from my Pinterest page so you can get an idea of what we're thinking:

Yup, you guessed it! Lots of plaid, lots of dark, moody colors, and we are trying our hardest to make the inside look like the Connecticut woods. Oh, and we are thrilled and HONORED to be having Ashley Caroline Photography photograph our wedding (basically, we planned our date around her availability)! Needless to say we are so excited to start this planning process. What do you guys think??

work to wedding

Friends, I am loving this crisp weather. I wake up a little chilly, with a pup snuggled by my feet (under the covers!), and the breeze is bringing in some of that delicious Fall smell that I couldn't describe if I tried. Are you sick of me talking about Fall? This year there's a lot of Fall hate going around - or, rather, a lot of acknowledgement of those of us who go a little emo crazy about Fall. I get it, I do, but when did everyone stop letting themselves feel wistful? This time of year makes me pine for back to school (as I've mentioned before, I used to write down my BTS purchases and pair the obvious choices and then make a list of other pairings to make more outfits - so this career has been a long time coming for me). This time of year also reminds me of college with my best friends - before everyone freaked out about pumpkin everything (myself included). I think what people love most about this feeling is the nostalgia of it all. And flavored lattes and trips to the pickin' patch are just little ways to try and recreate those memories. ANYWAY - this post is not about that at all. I just finished my coffee so I'm sure that's how that little rant happened :). Speaking of Fall - weddings. And being a wedding guest. And being all, wait I know how to dress for a summer wedding but this is hard. That's okay cause I spelled it out for you today. I found the most delicious dress from a Canadian designer that my friend Jenn introduced me to...and I knew immediately that it's too special to just be a work appropriate dress. But it is that, also, so here's how to take it from Friday at the office to Friday night at your friend's wedding:

I'm pretty proud of this board because each piece is a stand alone item that absolutely elevates your wardrobe on its own. Rules are: keep is way casual during the day. Leather and denim dress down the fanciness. For the wedding, no need for tons of accessories - keep it simple with some big old, colorful earrings, and heels to die for.

What do you think? Any fun weddings coming up this Fall?
