one last time

Friends! I'm sorry yesterday was kind of a dud of a post. My mind is all over the place lately: the wedding, the move, Thursday's workshop, SPRING! I'm in a bit of a funk. Luckily, I have today's outfit in my back pocket for one last ode to winter...

This outfit is the perfect example of just figuring it out. Even though Ashley and I had put together what would be a beautiful shoot, when the week of the shoot rolled around and it was a high of 17 degrees, we had to rearrange the outfits. I quickly ordered the coat on super sale (NOW is the best time to buy for next winter!), and we scrambled to find the perfect dress and shoes.

During the shoot, though, we decided we loved the simple dress and snow boots, and left them on. I'm so happy with the way it turned out!

Confession: I'm a homebody. Okay, that's a generous term. Reclusive would be more appropriate. I guilt trip my friends saying we never hang out, and then infamously flake when I get invited along. It's not that I don't want to hang out, because I do, I'm obsessed with my friends. It's just that the motivation to get moving can be hard for me, loving home as I do. As you can imagine, workouts are hard when you're like this. It's been years since I've had a consistent routine, Bari being closest to it. With our wedding coming up (I feel like I start every sentence that way lately!), I'm determined to change my bad habits. Group classes are a lovely motivation, and getting out into the city early in the morning leaves potential for an entire day full of out and about activities. Of course getting dressed never hurt...

allie's outfit: pinpoint

 

You won't hear a word from me (yet) about the snow. My ancestors thrived in the clouds and rain and mild temps; I'm all about this cold.

I'm also, if you haven't noticed yet, all about minimal accessories. Because I want getting dressed to be easy, and I want the accessories I put on my body to make me happy.

Sometimes a big old poncho doubles as a warmth-giver and an accessory - super easy. And every now and again, it's nice to choose one little piece that makes your entire outfit come together.

shut your mouth

One of my goals since coming back from Alt Summit is for LRW to have more amazing photography for you guys to look at - whether that be my own or someone else's. As luck would have it, Julia is one of my favorite photographers and was also more than game to snap some pictures. Last Friday, armed with stories of wedding planning and not much else in the way of outerwear, we ventured out in Park Slope, Brooklyn to bring you all something pretty to look at.

Sometimes, to create beautiful stuff, you have to give your insecurities the what for:
